About the Artist

Mary Nielsen was born in Salt Lake, raised her family, and chose to make Utah her lifelong home because of its inspiring beauty and diversity. Her education included advanced art curricula and interior design studies. She is passionate about the creation of art, naming her company Head to Heart to Hand. She believes this is how art is created:  from your head - which is your idea, through your heart - which is your interpretation, to your hand – which is your execution. She’s quick to inspire others who think they aren’t artistic by sharing this mantra.

“From the head through the heart to the hands… that is how art should be created”

She loves exploring new mediums for her creations

as well as teaching, volunteering and mentoring art classes and programs for children, adults, and senior citizens. She’s active in the local art community and participates in local markets and events. She offers prints of original alcohol ink art paintings, original polymer clay pieces and mosaics, and original encaustic paintings, but is being constantly inspired to experiment and grow her craft and continue her education.

Diverse, tactile, fluid, and free.

Beauty, connection, inspiration, joy, peacefulness, and movement are expressed in her creations. Through her art, she conveys her love of nature, and her drive to be creative. She believes this is how art should be received:  Look at it with your eyes, feel it with your heart, and then receive it, which brings the Head to Heart to Hand experience to those who chose to bring her art into their homes.
